Friday - Go and Tell

Prayer:    Lord Jesus Christ,  wellspring of love and life,  we go and tell Your life story to our family this day.  Lord Jesus Christ,  wellspring of love and life,  we go and live Your life story through the examples of our life this day.   In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

Read  St Matthew 28: 1 – 10

At dawn on the first day of the week,  Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to go the tomb.  There they find an angel who tells them that Jesus is not in the tomb… Jesus is risen.  The women head back to where the disciples are staying to let them know that Jesus is risen.

On their journey,   Jesus appears to the women and tells them to Go and Tell the disciples to wait for him in Galilee.

Go and tell.  We too are asked to go and tell the Good News of Jesus.    How do we go about telling others of this Good News?     As Presbyterians we shy away from the word evangelism.   This word has actually gotten a bad rap over the years as people equate evangelism with people knocking on your door and insisting you believe their beliefs.

Evangelism  means bringing the Good News of Jesus to your family and neighbours.   So how do you bring the Good News of Jesus to your family and neighbours and friends?    Keep them all in your prayers.  Prayer is the beginning of all ministry and work for us as Christians.   Pray for each of your neighbours as you take your daily constitutional around the block.  Pray for the homes near your Church.     Invite your friends to Church or a Church event.  Live a life where people see you as a positive example of what it means to be a Christian.

Remember that pray is the most important thing that we do for and with the Church.    Frequently we get our priorities mixed up and think our money is the most important.  It isn’t.   Prayer is the beginning of all needs and helps.

Our life as an example of what it means to be a Christian.  Remember no matter how large or small a community may be,  people see what you are doing and saying.  If you continually get angry at the Sales Clerks in the grocery store,  what kind of an example are you setting as a Christian?  If you continually smile and talk with the Sales Clerks in the grocery store,  what kind of an example are you setting as a Christian?

Now,  what will you do today to Go and Tell others about this wonderful love of Christ that you have found?

Prayer:    Lord Jesus Christ,  with great enthusiasm  we go and tell of Your wonderful love and peace in believing.  Amen.
