Thursday - reconciliation

Colossians 1: 19-20   For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in Christ, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

This century we have witnessed some amazing reconciliations with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Canada.   Each of these commissions were created to begin the process of seeking out the truth,  granting forgiveness,  and reconciliation.   Big tasks.    Yet  together by taking small steps at first,  truth and reconciliation is found.  And as the Canadian Truth and Reconciliation Commission continues,  it is amazing to see the renewed life that has been created by sharing stories of life journeys.

What does the word “reconciliation” mean to you?   Does reconciliation also include peace and justice?

Prayer:  Holy God,  may the fullness of Christ dwell within us richly so that when times in our lives become tough and frustrating or we live in despair,  we can turn to You and dwell in Your love.  Amen.
