Tuesday - Lent 2

Museum day today.  Hurrah.    And then a Vimy Powerpoint presentation to the XII Mb Dragoons 2528 Army Cadets in Virden this evening.  A full day :)
Yesterday afternoon I helped out at St. Matthew's.  The Church decided to help out the homeless on weekends where there are no food kitchens open in Brandon.  St. Matthew's  is cooking turkey stews,  putting stew into individual plastic containers,  freezing the containers, and transporting them to Seventh Street access Centre where people can go to get a meal on the weekend.  Five Churches are involved in this ministry.   Awesome to see the love of Christ shared not only this Lent but always!

Devotional.....
Great God,  may we have as great a faith as the Centurion did eons ago.  May we be as bold as the Centurion and ask for your healing.  May we be as humble as the Centurion knowing that You are our LORD.  This we ask in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

Read:  St. Matthew 8: 5 – 13
The faith of the Centurion really could be called the Gift of Faith.  We assume that the Centurion was not a Jew.  Yet the Centurion has such  faith,  he comes to  Jesus and asks Jesus  to heal his servant  right then and there.     The Centurion says that he recognizes Jesus’ authority.   Wow.   Jesus is blown away and says that he has not seen such faith in all of Israel.   The gift of faith.  The Centurion had the gift of faith but Jesus says that many Israelites will forget their gift of faith and will not reach the Kingdom of God.   In fact,  they will remain outside the kingdom where there will be darkness and wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Reflect today your own gift of faith.    How will you strengthen your gift of faith this day?

Thank You Great God for the gift of faith.  Help us this day to strengthen your gift of Faith in our lives.   Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Many blessings
